An event hosted by Julie Kahn the other night drew a crowd of woman all passionate about supporting the Women’s Lunch Place (WLP), a non-profit organization located on Boston’s popular Newbury Street that provides more than 150 women and their children with nutritious and wholesome meals, plus an array of social, educational, and advocacy services six days a week. Among the guests at Kahn’s “Party With a Purpose” was former WLP occupant, Linda Burston, who has turned her hardships into triumph and is now an employee at the shelter;
Burston’s personal story is one of many examples of the shelter’s success. Also in attendance were executive director Elizabeth Keeley, director of development Lorraine Levine, and president of the board of directors, Hannah Grove. Daily services provided by the WLP include, but are not limited to, free on-site healthcare, art classes, a Resource Center, a nap room, access to laundry and shower facilities, clothing, and other personal care items.
This event was a kick-off to their upcoming events, which includes a spaghetti dinner hosted at the Fairmount Copley Plaza, October 24th.
